Mega Man firing a Wheel Cutter.
|Effect||Mega Man fires a spinning blade that rolls along the floor and damages anything it touches.|
Wheel Cutter (ホイールカッター) was originally one of five special weapons that could be changed into Mega Man's standard special move, Weapon Use, with Weapon Change in Super Smash Flash 2. As of Beta, Weapon Change has been replaced by Water Wave, thus taking this move along with it.
When performed, Mega Man would change color to gray and fire the Wheel Cutter, a small, spinning gray blade that would roll along the floor and damage anything it touches along the way. The projectile would continue to move, pushing opponents aside as it went, allowing it to effortlessly push opponents off the stage. Furthermore, since it could be used quickly in succession, it was a great damage builder and move spammer. The projectile also had what is easily the longest range of any projectile, allowing it to travel the entire length of Final Destination and still keep going after it falls off. It could also be used to knock an opponent off the ledge while they are hanging onto it.
The Wheel Cutter is a weapon originally acquired by defeating Nitro Man in Mega Man 10. In this game, the player can attach the spinning blade to the arm cannon and, once the attack button is released, launch it at enemies. The player can shoot up to three at one time, and they would follow the landscape by going across the floor and scaling walls. It was also Commando Man's weakness and most effective weapon to use against him. In SSF2 it functions very similarly to its Mega Man 10 counterpart, except the Wheel Cutter is launched almost immediately and cannot be held onto by holding the special attack button.
- Mega Man's fourth costume is based on his appearance when using the Wheel Cutter and, subsequently, the gray color palette he had while using this move.
- In both v0.8a and v0.8b of the SSF2 Demo, the weapon had the ability to scale walls but not ceilings, much like its original counterpart in Mega Man 10.
