Wavedashing is a movement technique in Fraymakers that causes the character to slide a short distance across the ground. It is performed by either airdashing diagonally into the ground or airdashing horizontally while grounded. This transfers the aerial momentum of the airdash into a grounded slide in which the player can perform any grounded action while moving.

The length a character slides when wavedashing is determined by various factors, particularly how close to ground they were before airdashing, as reaching the ground earlier in the airdash conserves more momentum. Wavedashing horizontally also achieves more distance than diagonally, which can be performed by either airdashing during a jump squat or pressing a dedicated airdash input while grounded. Additionally, characters with lower traction generally have longer wavedashes.

The technique is based on the action of the same name from Super Smash Bros. Melee, as well as other platform fighters such as Rivals of Aether. Despite hailing from the Super Smash Bros. series, the technique is not possible to perform in Super Smash Flash 2 due to the lack of directional air dodging.

Wavelanding[]

Wavelanding is a technique performed by airdashing into the ground before landing. Unlike wavedashing, which is typically used by airdashing during the first few frames of a jump or while grounded, wavelanding is typically used while descending after performing a full jump or falling from a platform. It is useful for quickly landing on platforms or traversing around the stage.

Ledgedashing[]

Ledgedashing is a technique performed by airdashing onto the stage after jumping from a ledge to land with a wavedash. This is one of the fastest and safest ways to return to the stage from the ledge, as players are able to act with a grounded action almost immediately upon performing it. It also allows the player to horizontally wavedash during the first few frames of jumping from the ledge. However, it can also be risky to perform due to the lack of intangibility present in other ledge options.

This technique can also be performed by airdashing after dropping from a ledge and jumping up to the stage. However, this is often much slower and does not allow the player to horizontally wavedash.
