Bandana Dee descending with Waddle Copter.
|Effect||Bandana Dee leaps upward and twirls his spear like a helicopter blade to slow his descent.|
When performed, Bandana Dee leaps into the air while holding his spear above himself with both hands, twirling it to resemble a helicopter blade. Opponents hit by the spear as he rises are dealt 13% damage with very strong knockback. After ascending a short distance upwards, he then twirls it with one hand, slowing his falling speed as he rocks back and forth. Opponents hit by the spear as he does so are dealt 4% damage with weak knockback. Similarly to Peach Parasol, Bandana Dee can put the spear away to cancel this at any point and enter a helpless state with normal falling speed; however, he cannot bring his spear back up in this state.
Because the move slows Bandana Dee's descent, and does not slow his normal horizontal momentum, it provides good horizontal recovery overall, albeit with weak vertical recovery. Additionally, the startup of the move is one of his strongest KO options, due to its strong knockback and low startup lag.
Spear Copter is an attack in the Kirby series that Kirby can use when equipped with the Spear Copy Ability. Bandana Dee himself is also able to use the move in Kirby's Return to Dream Land, with his variation being named Waddle Copter after his species. It functions similarly to how it does in SSF2, as while standing, they can charge up and then begin twirling their spears like a helicopter, attacking enemies that come into contact with them. Unlike in SSF2, however, both characters can move freely through the air as they twirl their spears. They can do this for several seconds before having to come back down, twirling their spears more slowly as they descend with reduced falling speed.
