Effect | Sheik disappears in an explosion and reappears in another place influenced by the directional inputs. |
Vanish (浮身) is Sheik's up special move in Super Smash Flash 2.
Overview
When performed, Sheik throws a Deku Nut at the ground and vanishes into thin air with an explosion surrounding her. Opponents hit by the explosion are dealt 10% flame damage and moderate upward knockback. She then reappears in a cloud of smoke a short distance away straight upward, or in a direction influenced by the directional inputs. Upon reappearing, the attack has a strong wind hitbox that can push opponents far away and even KO them if the player is caught by surprise.
During the start-up, Sheik is granted intangibility frames and in the air can steer left or right slightly, and she is able to grab the ledge. Landing with Vanish directly on a platform produces heavy lag, and reappearing in the air leaves her helpless. Oddly, the wind at the end of the move is considered a projectile and as such it can be reflected back at Sheik, potentially gimping her and pushing her offstage should this happen.
Origin

Sheik vanishing in The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time.
Vanish is based on how Sheik often vanished in The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time, much to Link's bafflement. However, sometimes fire or sand concealed her disappearance while she quickly threw the Deku Nut on the ground, much like a smokey explosion does in SSF2. Impa, the only other Sheikah in the game, could perform this ability; it is one of the "Sheikah arts". Based on the effect of Deku Nuts in-game, it is implied that Link was paralyzed by the Deku Nut and regained his senses following Sheik's departure, unlike Vanish necessarily involving Sheik teleporting.
