Tourian (ツーリアン), called as such within the game's files, is a solo stage in Super Smash Flash 2 that exclusively appears in event #40: The Mother Brain. As it is only possible to access this stage from the event match, it is not available for Group matches.

Layout[]

Tourian consists of four very small platforms, with two near the center and one against a wall to the right, which prevents all KOs on the right blast line. The fourth platform is on the left and occupied by Mother Brain, and until she is destroyed, the left blast line is also inaccessible due to another wall that hangs from above. Not only is the stage one of the smallest in the game, but the small platforms provide very little space to maneuver, which is likely the reason the stage is not available for Group.

Music[]

  • The main music track is Vs. Ridley, a rock remix that plays during a battle against Ridley in Super Metroid. It also plays as the alternate music track on the Planet SR388 stage.

Origin[]

Tourian (appearance)

Samus fighting Mother Brain on Tourian in Metroid: Zero Mission.

Tourian is a recurring location in the Metroid series, appearing as the final area that Samus explores before escaping the planet Zebes in the original Metroid, its remake Metroid: Zero Mission, and Super Metroid. It serves as the main headquarters and research facility of the planet's Space Pirate fortress, comprising primarily of metallic structures an defended by Rinkas, Zebetites, and Cannons, as well as hordes of Metroid larvae. Most notably, Mother Brain is located in the depths of Tourian, where the final battle against her takes place.

The stage in SSF2 is based on the site of the battle against Mother Brain, particularly in Metroid: Zero Mission. Much like in the original games, Mother Brain appears on the left side of the stage and is connected to a base that spans to the top and bottom of it. Additionally, small cannons are affixed to the walls and ceilings, but unlike in the Metroid games, the ones in SSF2 are purely cosmetic and do not shoot anything. The original area also featured lava at the bottom, whereas in SSF2, there is only a blast line.
