- The main music track is Sacred Moon, a dramatic remix of one of the themes that plays on The World That Never Was in KINGDOM HEARTS II.
- The alternate music track is Darkness of the Unknown, a rock remix of one of the themes that plays during the battle against Xemnas, the final boss of KINGDOM HEARTS II.
The World That Never Was is considered to be a neutral stage. The layout of the stage is fairly balanced, giving only a slight advantage to characters at most. The stage is also very straightforward, having no hazards or other undesirable stage elements that could otherwise take away from the game's competitive depth.
The World That Never Was first appeared in KINGDOM HEARTS II as the world of Organization XIII, which is mainly the site of the expansive Dark City. The Organization rules the world from a massive fortress floating weightlessly over Dark City known as the Castle That Never Was, and the stage in SSF2 takes place on a giant tower high above the rest of the castle called the Altar of Naught.
