This article is about the Watcher's appearance in Fraymakers. For general information about the character, see Watcher.

The Watcher is a playable character in Fraymakers. She was unveiled alongside the game's Kickstarter campaign and was released in v0.7.0 of Early Access on July 31, 2024.

Hailing from the indie game Slay the Spire, the Watcher's moveset consists of attacks using her staff based on cards she uses in said game. Her main mechanic is her divine stances, which change her physics and can be switched between using her down special move: Calm, which increases her jumping height, and Wrath, which increases her movement speed. Each stance provides different attack properties, as well as completely changing her neutral special move, allowing for unique playstyles. She also gains one Mantra for each attack she lands, and upon gaining five Mantra for each stance, she temporarily enters Divinity, which allows her to use a more powerful version of one of her special moves with additional stun time.

Side special move Carve Reality Swings her staff downward to create a pair of portals, one in front of her and the other at a distance forward, before warping between them. Hitting opponent with distant portal allows the Watcher to act out, otherwise invoking special fall. When used in Calm or Divinity, portal's position can be angled upward or downward. When used in Divinity, portal deals increased damage and stuns opponents hit. 5

Up special move Deva Form Floats upward while crossing her legs and meditates with additional arms behind her, creating a small explosion at the peak of her ascent. Hitting opponent with explosion allows the Watcher to act out, otherwise invoking special fall. Player can move left or right while rising and explosion can be activated early by pressing attack or special input. Calm version covers more height, whereas Wrath version allows for more horizontal distance. When used in Divinity, height and horizontal control are both increased, and explosion stuns opponents hit. 8

Assist functionality[]

Like Water and Conclude versions.

The Watcher's Assist renders.

When summoned as an Assist, the Watcher uses one of the three versions of her neutral special move, cycling through them with each use. The current move is indicated by the color of the background for the Assist icon, with Like Water being blue, Reach Heaven being red, and Conclude being purple. Each move functions nearly identically to their respective counterparts, except Like Water heals 1 damage per hit rather than 0.5 damage.

It takes 75 damage to fully charge the Watcher.

Assist[]

Cycles through Watcher's Calm, Wrath and Divinity neutral specials. Calm multihits upward and heals you, Wrath hits hard and Divinity stuns opponents in a large area!
