This article is about Temple as it appeared in Super Smash Flash. For the Super Smash Flash 2 incarnation, see Temple (Super Smash Flash 2). For other uses, see Temple.

Temple (神殿), also referred to as Hyrule Temple or even Hyrule Castle, is a starter stage in Super Smash Flash hailing from The Legend of Zelda series. It has a custom appearance and has not appeared in any of the Super Smash Bros. games. The sprites for Temple are composed of several custom-made sprites that were stitched together. It could be considered a more simplified version of the Temple stage from Super Smash Bros. Melee.

Layout

Temple is a long, solid platform that has four pass-through platforms. In the middle of the stage, there is a small sign post that characters can stand on.

Music

  • The music track is an incomplete rendition of Temple, a calm atmospheric remix of the theme that plays on the dungeon levels in Zelda II: The Adventure of Link, ripped straight from Super Smash Bros. Melee.

Adventure mode

Temple, under the seemingly wrong name of "Hyrule Castle", is the seventh and penultimate level of Adventure mode. The player is pitched on a 3 vs. 1 match against Link, Zelda and Young Link. Link and Young Link both possess one stock each whereas Zelda has two, one meant for her original form and the other for her Sheik persona, though Zelda indiscriminately transforms back and forth into Sheik during the match, so her stocks are not necessarily assigned to her forms specifically. Victory over The Legend of Zelda protagonists moves on to the final level.

Whether it is a new image or simply a higher quality update, upload the new file and add it into the article. Remember to always upload an updated file under the same name as the older version to supersede it.

Temple is based on Zelda II: The Adevnture of Link. In The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time, the name of the dungeons is based on the type of environment around it or the location with "Temple" at the end. However, in Zelda II, these dungeons are called "Palaces". Hyrule is where the Temple is located, hence "Hyrule Temple". Also the palaces in Zelda II are infamous for their length, which could explain the size of the stage. The music for Temple is a remix of the Palace theme from Zelda II. There are sign post all long Hyrule to give hints and directions to the players.

Trivia

  • When compared proportionally to the characters, this incarnation of Temple is wider than even the original Temple.
