Suzaku Castle (朱雀城) is a stage in Super Smash Flash 2 hailing from the Street Fighter series. It was revealed during the Day 2 livestream at Super Smash Con 2019, alongside Ryu, and is based off of Ryu's stage from Street Fighter II.

Layout[]

Suzaku Castle consists of a large main platform with a long soft platform floating above it. The soft platform has a sign on each side that reads "風林火山".

Music[]

  • The main music track is Ryu’s Theme, an orchestral rock remix of the theme that plays on Ryu's stage, Suzaku Castle, in Street Fighter II.
  • One of the alternate music tracks is Ken’s Theme, a techno remix of the theme that plays on Ken's stage, Battle Harbor, in Street Fighter II.
  • The other alternate music track is Guile's Theme, a techno rock remix of the theme that plays on Guile's stage, the Air Force Base, in Street Fighter II.

Origin[]

Suzaku Castle (appearance)

Suzaku Castle in Street Fighter II: The World Warrior.

Suzaku Castle, also known as the "Japan Stage", is Ryu's home stage in several games of the Street Fighter series, debuting in Street Fighter II. It is an abandoned castle in Japan that is mostly unknown to the world, though its dojo is where Ryu lives and trains. Matches on this stage take place on the castle's rooftops, and like all stages in the series, it consists of a flat surface and lacks any gameplay-altering effects.

The stage in SSF2 is based on the stage's original appearance in Street Fighter II, particularly the twilight setting featured in Street Fighter II: The World Warrior. The signs with Japanese text are also based on this version of the stage, in which the signs can be broken by knocking an opponent into them.

Trivia[]

  • The layout of the stage is based on the two long walk-off platforms on the right side of the stage of the same name from Super Smash Bros. for Nintendo 3DS and Wii U, which extend off-screen to mirror the left sides of them.
