Version 0.3a was the first iteration of the third major release of the Super Smash Flash 2 Demo, released on August 15, 2008. It was the first version to actually add a new character and a stage, Sonic and Final Destination, respectively. It is also the first version compatible for Mac computers.

Differences from v0.2b[]

Super Smash Flash 2 v0

Mario, Ichigo, Kirby and Sonic fighting on Final Destination.

Right on the start of the matches, it is already possible to notice differences: on-screen appearances; the characters now make movements for entering on the stage. The stages now have music and the camera is now dynamic; it will move, following the players' actions. When pausing, the player can freely control the camera position, similarly to the official games. It may also shake with some attacks.

Ground attacks were significantly improved, with the major problem about them fixed: the player can now execute up tilts. Further on, the player can also execute down tilts, by pressing the down button and then the attack button. The command also got improved; when a character gets knocked into the floor, they can now use a rolling wakeup to recover.

The aerial commands got even more improved, with all characters being capable of air dodging attacks, working similarly to its grounded version; shield, except it cannot be held, cannot be followed into a grab and attacks will totally get past it, instead of hitting, but dealing no damage to opponent, obviously because the player is dodging, and not shielding.

The Final Smash area got improved once again, with the Smash Ball now floating in the stage. And finally, there is the addition of the revival platforms.
