Version 0.2b was the second iteration of the second major release of the Super Smash Flash 2 Demo, released on June 27, 2008. Like its predecessor, it did not add any new playable characters or stages, instead opting for gameplay additions.

Differences from v0.2a

SSF2 v0.2b GP

Graphical differences with v0.2a (and even with v0.1a-b) were minimal.

The commands for forward smash and Final Smash were simplified to work the way they do in the official games. Forward smash could be done by pressing forward and the Standard Attack button, while Final Smashes used just one press of the Special Attack button. Furthermore, final smashes could now be activated in midair.

The former command for forward smashes, crouching before pressing forward and standard, was assigned to grabs and throws. With this came limited chain grabbing ability, though it seldom came into play due to the primitive physics engine that favored high knockback growth.

Mario's F.L.U.D.D. was replaced with Cape, the first projectile reflector in the game.

Aerial attacks were further improved, with back aerials being added and some up aerials being given distinct animations.

Final Smashes were adjusted; Final Forms were given grabs and throws like their base characters, Falcon's Crest was given a new effect and required the opponent to be close to activate, and Cook Kirby became able to pull opponents towards it if they were in range.
