Version v0.1b was a minor update to the Super Smash Flash 2 Demo, released on February 16, 2008. It consisted primarily of bug fixes, making differences between it and its predecessor, v0.1a, minimal.

Menu[]

The menu and title screen were identical to v0.1a's, with the sole exception of the changed version number. The character select screen was also unchanged, the icons of the four playable characters and 39 unselectable slots which, according to former developer James Hadden, were not meant to represent the pre-v0.7 roster.

Like in v0.1a, the only options available were to adjust the time limit and damage ratio. Stock had a space on the menu, but was crossed out.

Changes from v0.1a[]

The gameplay of v0.1b is nearly identical to that of its predecessor. However, one notable change is that Mario's falling speed during his aerials was reduced. This made it possible to use his slow neutral aerial, as he was previously unable to complete the move's animation before landing.

Other changes were primarily visual. An inaccessible Smash Ball would no longer appear at the top left corner of the stage, and projectiles on-screen at the end of the match would properly disappear rather than lingering.

Notable glitches and oddities[]

  • Like in v0.1a, fighting a Level 9 CPU will result in said CPU jumping aimlessly. CPU Kirby in particular consistently self-destructs by jumping until he goes past the upper blast line.
  • Like in v0.1a, attempting to perform an up special move without jumping, which was possible by holding the Up key while landing or during an attack, will result in the move bugging and failing to take the character into the air. Final Cutter in particular would fail to activate entirely, Kirby merely appearing to pose with the sword without attacking.
