Sonic & Knuckles (ソニック&ナックルズ) is a 1994 platform video game in Sonic the Hedgehog series for the Sega Mega Drive/Genesis. It was developed in the United States at SEGA Technical Institute by members of Sonic Team, and was published by SEGA worldwide on October 18, 1994.

As well as working as a standalone game, through a system dubbed "lock-on technology", Sonic & Knuckles acts as an expansion pack to both Sonic the Hedgehog 2 and Sonic the Hedgehog 3, the latter with which it was developed in tandem.

Stages

Sky Sanctuary Zone, the sixth zone of this game, appears as a stage in Super Smash Flash 2. The design is reminiscent of its original appearance, and like in the game, some platforms fall upon being walked on. Additionally, one of the main enemies of this game, Eggrobo, appears as a background character on this stage.

Music

A remix of the theme that plays during the Sky Sanctuary Zone level of this game is used as the main music track of the stage of the same name in SSF2.
