Smash Flash DOJO!!!, also referred to as SSF2 DOJO!!! or simply DOJO, was originally the official website used to present Super Smash Flash 2 information. It was written in the form of a blog, generally by a developer, with information such as characters, stages, items, music, game modes, and news being provided on a regular basis. It was based on the Smash Bros. DOJO!! of Super Smash Bros. Brawl. Since March 3, 2016, it has been partially merged with the McLeodGaming website, but it is no longer active.

List of iterations

The Smash Flash DOJO!!! has had several iterations throughout SSF2's development cycle, all serving the same purpose nonetheless. They have all since closed down due to technical problems, changes with the staff, being remotely abandoned, becoming outdated, or having their domains moved. Below is compilation of the five DOJO!!! iterations that have existed.

Smash Flash Central

The first DOJO!!!, officially named Smash Flash Central, was released in 2008 and was simply a forum pasted with information for the game. Eventually, it was closed down due to a generally disrespectful community.

Second DOJO!!!

The second DOJO!!!, officially named Smash Flash DOJO!!, was released in 2008 and aesthetically resembled the Smash Bros. DOJO!! for Brawl. It was created by developer (now former) Naruto [NU] but was recreated by stoat.tamer and used to solve the disrespect problem of Smash Flash Central. It was temporarily put on hold for a remodeling, and due to a completely rewritten code, this marked its eventual replacement with the fourth DOJO!!!.

Flash2dojo

The third DOJO!!!, a fan-made one, was created by Alex Tid Knowles (before he became a developer, now former), under the name Flash2dojo. The head of the DOJO!!! was also Tid, with help from user Xviyz alongside many others. Despite its fan-made status, it received some feedback from a few developers at the time. It was closed down on May 16, 2010.[1]

Fourth DOJO!!!

The third official DOJO!!! and fourth one in total was released on June 12, 2009 and was coded in Flash by developer (now former) Neron of the McLeodGaming Forums. Featuring a new design, it completely replaced the second DOJO!!. It was attempted to make multiple languages for this DOJO!!!, but only Brazilian Portuguese was done, and it was never completed. On June 5, 2010, the site was updated in an HTML format by developer Sirtopeia with the help from the now former developer RoyMaster4, and the update was released on June 16, 2010. It was closed in July 2013 and replaced with its successor.

Fifth DOJO!!!

The fourth official DOJO!!! and fifth one in total was started on August 4, 2013 but publicly released on August 6, 2013. It also was under charge by Sirtopeia but it was now directed by developer Ramsey Kaid with the assistance of multiple writers (called DOJO!!! writers). The site presented a new and unique design with certain visual elements that changed color based on the categories of pages being viewed.

On March 3, 2016, the contents of the DOJO!!! were partially merged with the SSF2 page on the McLeodGaming website, and the DOJO!!! website itself did not receive any additional updates afterward. Prior to the release of Beta, the DOJO!!! website was deleted and redirected to the aforementioned SSF2 page, which itself was later deleted on January 1, 2021 and redirected to SuperSmashFlash.com. Although the DOJO!!! pages are still available on the McLeodGaming website, the website itself no longer directs to them.

Updates

Each iteration of the Smash Flash DOJO!!! had its own unique updates from each other in terms of what information was showcased, with even updates on the same topic differing between iterations. The final DOJO!!! update to showcase content was released on January 16, 2014, with the final update overall being released on June 30, 2015. As a result, much of the content featured on these websites has since become outdated.

The following pages list the DOJO!!!'s updates:

Trivia

  • The fourth iteration of the Smash Flash DOJO!!! was used to play several April Fools' Day jokes, which served to tease and later reveal the now scrapped Trigger Item.
  • The fifth iteration of the Smash Flash DOJO!!! had a snowing effect during December 2013 in which the position of the mouse cursor affected the direction the snow fell.
