The Shield Monitor appears as a flashing screen that cannot be passed through by characters, and the top also acts as a hard platform. Upon being broken by a physical attack, the character who attacked it is encapsulated by a large, spherical green shield that spins around them. While this shield is active, the character becomes immune to damage and knockback and cannot be grabbed. By default, the shield can take up to 50% damage total, though this amount can be increased based on how much damage the player has accumulated, after which the player is knocked back a short distance. The shield can also disappear if the player is KO'd or breaks another Shield Monitor (or another item in its class) to replace the previous shield.
