Effect	Tails throws out a small robot that walks back and forth and explodes upon contact with an opponent.

Remote Robot (メカテイルス) is Tails' up special move in Super Smash Flash 2.

Overview

This attack makes Tails pull out and toss forward a small-fox like robot, invariably having a vague resemblance to Tails himself, that begins walking back and forth when it touches the ground. If an opponent makes direct contact with the robot, it would jump upward and explode on the opponent, dealing decent damage and a little knockback. After an amount of time passes, the robot gets deactivated and explodes, rendering it unable to move. Directly hitting the robot also deactivates it. Tails cannot throw another robot until the first one has disappeared, and a sound effect will play to show when he can use it again.

Origin

The larger variant of the Remote Robot in Tails Adventure.

The Remote Robot originates from Tails' spin-off solo game, Tails Adventure. Contrary to its use in SSF2, it is not an offensive device but rather an assist item for Tails, who can use it for reconnaissance and item-collecting, as it is capable to access different narrow sections in the game with its small size and its flying ability. The SSF2 version is particularly based on the larger variant of the robot seen in the game's end credits, which explodes just as Tails finishes making it, and is unable to turn into its smaller drone-like form. Its offensive properties may be taken from the fact the robot will be automatically recalled back to Tails should it takes damage.

Trivia

• The robot deployed behaves in a very similar fashion to the Mechakoopa deployed by Bowser Jr.'s down special move of the same name in the official Super Smash Bros. games.
• The move itself also bears resemblance to Chu² Bomb, which was originally planned to be Tails' side special move before being scrapped.
• Prior to Beta 1.0.3, Tails' up special move was instead Tails Whirlwind. It was changed to Remote Robot for unknown reasons.
