Palace of Twilight is a stage in Super Smash Flash 2, based on the dungeon of the same name from the game The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess.

Layout[]

Palace of Twilight consists of a large main platform consisting of four separate pillars and three soft platforms floating above them, with the leftmost platform being the highest and the rightmost platform being the lowest. With hazards on, these pillars and platforms shift positions approximately every twenty seconds to create new layouts. The following layouts are available in addition to the default layout:

  • The two outer pillars rise up, forming walls surrounding the two center pillars. The left and right soft platforms float over these pillars at equal heights. The center soft platform also sinks slightly.
  • The two outer pillars sink off-stage, with the left and right soft platforms taking their places. The center soft platform also sinks slightly.
  • The rightmost pillar sinks off-stage, with the rightmost soft platform taking its place. The remaining three pillars form a gradual staircase sloped upwards to the left, and the remaining two soft platforms come together over the leftmost pillars.

Zant appears on the throne in the background.

Music[]

  • The main music track is Zant Battle, a synthethic remix of the theme that plays during the boss battle against Zant in the Palace of Twilight in The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess.
  • The alternate music track is Fairy Fontain, a calm remix of the theme that plays inside Fairy Fountains in The Legend of Zelda series, first appearing in The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past.

Origin[]

Palace of Twilight (origin)

Zant's throne room inside the Palace of Twilight in The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess.

The Palace of Twilight is the eighth and penultimate dungeon Link must complete in The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess. It is located within the Twilight Realm, a parallel world to Hyrule, and was originally the home of the Royal Family of the Twilight Realm, whom Princess Midna is part of prior to Zant usurping the throne from her and taking control of the Twilight Realm with the help of Ganondorf's power. The palace is accessed once Link and Midna have acquired and reunited all the shards of the Mirror of Twilight, where Link restores the corrupted Twili inhabitants by infusing two artifacts known as "Sols" into the Master Swords. After making their way to the dungeon's last floor, Link and Midna reach the throne room and battle the usurper king Zant himself. The stage in SSF2 seems to take inspiration from the aforementioned throne room.
