Sonic, Tails, Knuckles, and Shadow entering Emerald Hill Zone in SSF.

Mario, Link, Kirby, and Pikachu entering Waiting Room in Super Smash Flash 2.
The on-screen appearance, also known as an intro or entrance, is a short animation in the Super Smash Flash series and Fraymakers that plays for each character before entering a stage at the start of a match. Each animation, with the exception of those in the original Super Smash Flash, is unique to its respective character and relates to their abilities or universe, such as Mario entering in through a Warp Pipe from the Mario franchise. Characters in the original Super Smash Flash lack unique animations when appearing at the start of the match, instead hovering in the air before dropping onto the stage when a match starts.
In Super Smash Flash 2, characters' on-screen appearances play one after the other during the countdown based on each character's player number, whereas in Super Smash Flash and Fraymakers, they play all at once as soon as the match is loaded. They are present in each game mode of each game, with the exceptions of All-Star, Training, and Home-Run Contest in SSF2, which do not feature countdowns.

Trivia
- In SSF2, Wario's Wario Waft begins charging the moment he enters the stage, making his on-screen appearance the only one in the game to directly affect gameplay.
- Wario and Sora are currently the only characters in SSF2 to have a different on-screen appearance than that featured in the Super Smash Bros. games, in which Wario drives onto the stage using the Wario Bike and Sora flies onto the stage and hoists his Keyblade up.
