Trivia[]

Mario's old costumes from Super Smash Con 2019.
Ichigo's costumes as seen during Super Smash Con 2019.
Mario's and Ichigo's costumes in Super Smash Con 2019.
  • Ichigo had many of his costumes replaced before the Beta 1.2's public release, having had one with a teal-colored shihakushō; and a second dark blue costume, with orange hair.
    • Additionally, his pink costume had a pink hakama — rather than blue — and, save for the Hollow Ichigo- and Fullbringer-inspired attires, all of his alternate costumes used the default colors for his sword.
  • Many of Mario's costumes have received big changes or been altogether replaced in development builds of Beta 1.2 prior to its first public release.[21]
    • The color of the shirt in Mario's black costume was closer to the color in Super Smash Bros.. The "M" on his cap was lighter as well.
    • His green costume was based on his fifth costume in Super Smash Bros. Melee,[1] but with his shoes and the "M" on the hat being blue.
    • The Shadow Mario-inspired costume was cyan instead of dark blue.
    • He also had costumes based on Cloud Mario from Super Mario Galaxy 2, Builder Mario from Super Mario Maker, and Classic Outfit from Super Mario Odyssey.
PeachOldWhiteCostume

Peach's early white costume.

  • Peach's white costume was based on her sixth costume in Super Smash Bros. Brawl in development builds of Beta 1.2.0.
  • Prior to Beta 1.2, Mr. Game & Watch had 17 filtered costumes, while Tails had 14. They were the only characters to end up with less options to choose from after the change to alternate colored costumes.
  • Although "retro" costumes normally reduce the amount of shades per color from several to just one — in order to give them a 'flat' 8-bit appearance —, some still keep two shades of a single color in their retro palette: Bowser, the Pokémon fighters and Simon for their main bodies, as well as Black Mage on his hat.
