Ichigo had many of his costumes replaced before the Beta 1.2's public release, having had one with a teal-colored shihakushō; and a second dark blue costume, with orange hair.
Additionally, his pink costume had a pink hakama — rather than blue — and, save for the Hollow Ichigo- and Fullbringer-inspired attires, all of his alternate costumes used the default colors for his sword.
Many of Mario's costumes have received big changes or been altogether replaced in development builds of Beta 1.2 prior to its first public release.[21]

Peach's white costume was based on her sixth costume in Super Smash Bros. Brawl in development builds of Beta 1.2.0.
Prior to Beta 1.2, Mr. Game & Watch had 17 filtered costumes, while Tails had 14. They were the only characters to end up with less options to choose from after the change to alternate colored costumes.
Although "retro" costumes normally reduce the amount of shades per color from several to just one — in order to give them a 'flat' 8-bit appearance —, some still keep two shades of a single color in their retro palette: Bowser, the Pokémon fighters and Simon for their main bodies, as well as Black Mage on his hat.
