Krazoa Palace (クラゾア宮殿) is an unlockable stage in Super Smash Flash 2, hailing from the Star Fox series. It is based off of the location of the same name from Star Fox Adventures.

Overview[]

Krazoa Palace primarily consists of a large main platform extending to the left and right blast lines with a large fan in the center. The middle of the platform is flat and gently slopes upward toward the left and right sides, which are elevated and flat with walls above them extending to the top blast line. These sections also have walls blocking their view from the foreground, which become translucent when characters stand behind them. There are two soft platforms floating on above the middle section of the main platform on opposite sides of the fan.

With hazards turned on, the fan in the center of the stage blows a continuous stream of wind, pushing airborne fighters upward.

Music[]

  • The main music track is Inside Krazoa Palace, a calm remix of the theme that plays inside the Krazoa Palace in Star Fox Adventures.
  • The alternate music track is Shackled Snowhorn, a remix of the theme that plays on the Snowhorn Wastes area in Star Fox Adventures.

Tournament legality[]

This stage is banned in competitive play. In addition to having walk-off blast lines that allow for camping and early KOs, the low ceilings surrounding these blast lines act as caves of life that make horizontal KOs much more difficult. This is compounded by the slanted walls that extend to the top of the stage, giving an advantage to characters with strong vertical KO potential.

Origin[]

Krazoa Palace (appearance)

Krazoa Palace in Star Fox Adventures.

Krazoa Palace is a major location featured in Star Fox Adventures. It is the most sacred place on the dinosaur planet Sauria and where the Krazoa Spirits once resided in before the EarthWalker Tribe hid them around the planet to prevent General Scales, the leader of the SharpClaw tribe, from gathering them. At the start of the game, Krystal flies to the palace on a CloudRunner to answer a distress signal, but she becomes imprisoned after releasing a Krazoa Spirit and is drained of her powers. Fox, who had become tasked with releasing the remaining Krazoa Spirits and restoring Sauria, later explores the palace himself using a WarpStone statue to reach it and meets Krystal for the first time. Following this, he explores the palace again to release the final Krazoa Spirit and free Krystal, with the final battle against General Scales taking place here.

The stage in SSF2 is based on Krazoa Palace's layout during Fox's first visit in Star Fox Adventures, featuring a similar visual style and corridors. The fan in the center of the stage is also a recurring element that appears throughout the palace to push Fox up to higher terrain.

Trivia[]

KNewStageHype

Krystal taunting on an experimental stage.

  • This is the only Star Fox stage to not take place in space and where the main stage structure is not a variant of the Great Fox.
  • When Krystal was initially revealed, her trailer showed her taunting on a stage that was initially assumed to be a stage yet to be revealed at the time. Although the stage shown bears resemblance to Krazoa Palace, which itself is heavily associated with Krystal, it has no connection to it and is simply an experimental stage made by Refurin.
