Koopa Paratroopa (パタパタ) is a recurring enemy in the Mario series.
Koopa Paratroopas are winged Koopa Troopas introduced in the original Super Mario Bros. as flying enemies. Like their grounded variants, Koopa Paratroopas have several varieties of shell colors, with red and green being the most common, though other varieties such as blue and yellow have since been introduced. Usually, Red Koopa Paratroopas will fly up and down in a set path, while Green Koopa Paratroopas will bounce in the player's general direction or fly back and forth in the air. Upon being jumped on, Koopa Paratroopas will lose their wings and turn into regular Koopa Troopas, but they can generally be instantly defeated using fireballs.
In A Super Mario World
Multiple Koopa Paratroopas appear in the McLeodGaming cartoon A Super Mario World. They briefly appear in the first episode as the most common monsters that Mario fights with the Master Sword, including two Blue Koopa Paratroopas flying from opposite sides of the screen, six Green Koopa Paratroopas flying in a group from the right, and a Yellow Koopa Paratroopa flying from the right, in that order. Like with the rest of the monsters, Mario easily kills all of them with the Master Sword.
A Blue Koopa Paratroopa also appears briefly in the credits of the third episode as one of the enemies fighting Link. It quickly approaches him before being immediately defeated with the Master Sword.
- Although most of the Koopa Paratroopas' sprites in A Super Mario World are ripped from Super Mario World, Blue Koopa Paratroopas do not actually appear in the game, so custom sprites are used instead.
