Knuckles is a playable newcomer starter character in Super Smash Flash from the large Sonic roster in the game. His moveset, as well as his sprite set, comes directly from Sonic Battle for the GBA.

Knuckles is ranked 6th, at the bottom of S tier. Knuckles is extremely strong, as best exemplified by his down attack, which can easily KO other characters despite lacking the typical instant-KO behavior. His other moves also deal great damage and knockback as well. Despite his strength, he also has a surprisingly fast speed on the ground and in the air.

However, Knuckles has some overall terrible, almost Blade-level instant-KO attacks due to his very short range outside of his rock throw. Said range problems give Knuckles a hard time dealing with swordsmen. His Rock Throw has a slow startup, limited range and cannot be used in the air, making it an unviable option when fighting projectile-heavy characters. This means that Knuckles must be very careful with his spacing in order to avoid a disadvantageous situation. Despite his problems, Knuckles is a brilliant character, which puts him near the top.

Attack Description Damage Image
Standard attack Knuckles throws a straight jab; holding down the button causes him to skid across the ground. 4% SSF Knuckles standard attack
Side attack Knuckles throws a double punch, trusting both fists forward; holding down the button causes him to skid across the ground. 2% SSF Knuckles side attack
Up attack Knuckles throws an uppercut; holding down the button causes him to skid across the ground. 6% SSF Knuckles up attack
Down attack Knuckles uses Rock Free Fall, pulling out a huge rock from the ground and immediately throws it in front of him; the rock deals damage as soon as it is pulled out from the ground even at the moment Knuckles has not thrown it yet. Without carrying an item, this is one of the few attacks that cannot be used in succession by holding by the attack button, as it requires the player to constantly press it in order to spam the attack, otherwise Knuckles performs his standard attack. 10% SSF Knuckles down attack
Down aerial Knuckles throws a swinging chop; holding down the button causes him to move a bit forward while in the air. 6% SSF Knuckles down aerial
Jump attack Knuckles has an additional attack while jumping; he uses the Spin Jump, curling into a ball as he spins in the air. 2% SSF Knuckles jump attack
