Jungle Island is a starter stage in Super Smash Flash 2 that originates from the Super Monkey Ball series.

Layout[]

Jungle Island consists of a small main platform with two sets of small hard platforms on either side and a soft platform floating above it. With hazards turned on, the platforms surrounding the center platform move in set intervals, with the wooden boards atop these platforms also periodically rising and serving as additional soft platforms. Fifteen different layouts are created before stage returns to its default form after about 207 seconds or 3.45 minutes, with the layouts platforms beginning to move in the same pattern again ten seconds later. With hazards turned off, the platforms never move, effectively making the stage consist of one large main platform and a soft platform.

The platforms on the stage move in the following order:

  • At about 5 seconds, the outer left and outer right hard platforms rise.
  • At about 20 seconds, the outer left and outer right soft platforms rise.
  • At about 31 seconds, the inner left and inner right hard platforms rise, and the center platform rises off-stage.
  • At about 46 seconds, the inner left and inner right soft platforms rise, and the outer left and outer right soft platforms lower.
  • At about 58 seconds, the outer left and outer right hard platforms lower.
  • At about 72 seconds, the outer right hard platform rises, and the inner left soft platform lowers.
  • At about 87 seconds, the outer right soft platform rises, and the inner left hard platform and inner right soft platform lower.
  • At about 101 seconds, the outer left soft platform rises, the inner right hard platform and outer right soft platform lower, and the center platform lowers to its original position.
  • At about 112 seconds, the outer left and inner left hard platforms rise, and the outer right hard platform lowers.
  • At about 130 seconds, the outer left and inner left soft platforms rise.
  • At about 140 seconds, the outer right soft platform rises, and the outer left and inner left soft platforms lower.
  • At about 154 seconds, the outer right hard platform rises, and the inner left hard platform lowers.
  • At about 170 seconds, the outer left and inner right hard platforms lower.
  • At about 183 seconds, the inner left and inner right soft platforms rise.
  • At about 197 seconds, the inner left and inner right soft platforms lower, returning the stage to its original layout.

The background depicts a path from the available platforms resembling a typical Super Monkey Ball stage, as well as spinning bananas, several insects, and a goal. The timer on the goal counts down the seconds on the match timer or, if there is no timer, counts up from zero.

During gameplay, voice clips of the announcer from Super Monkey Ball play at certain points. "Fall out!" is said when a player is KO'd, and "Hurry up!" is said when there are 30 seconds remaining on the match timer.

Music[]

  • The main music track is Jungle Island, a remix of the theme that plays in levels of the first world of the same name in Super Monkey Ball 2.
  • The alternate music track is Under the Ocean / Boiling Pot, a medley of the themes that play in levels of the third and sixth worlds of Super Monkey Ball 2.

Origin[]

Jungle Island Origin

A level of Jungle Island in Super Monkey Ball Banana Mania.

Jungle Island is the world where much of Super Monkey Ball 2 takes place. It is home to a village of monkeys, including the game's main protagonists, whose bananas are stolen by Dr. Bad-Boon and placed in dangerous labyrinths. The stage in SSF2 is based on the first world of the game, which itself is named Jungle Island and takes place on a lush waterfall with trees, beanstalks, and a vibrant rainbow.
