Hueco Mundo (虚圏, ウェコムンド) is a starter stage in Super Smash Flash 2 hailing from the BLEACH franchise. It was one of the stages confirmed in the original teaser for the game. It was released in the v0.6 of the demo with a completely different design from the one seen in the trailer.
Layout[]
Hueco Mundo contains of a large main platform that extends to the bottom and left blast lines and is unevenly sloped upward to the right. A soft platform floats above it and slowly moves to the left until reaching the left blast line, after which it reappears on the right blast line and continues moving.
Music[]
- The main music track is Clavar la Espada, a flamenco-inspired remix of the theme plays in some action scenes in the anime BLEACH.
- The alternate music track is On the Precipice of Defeat, a synthetic remix of the theme that plays when Ichigo's demise is approaching in the anime BLEACH.
Tournament legality[]
This stage is banned in competitive play. The main platform is hugely problematic, consisting mostly of one large slope that descends from the right-hand side of the stage down to the only instance of a walk-off edge on the bottom boundary in the game. This feature alone is enough to warrant a ban.
Origin[]

Las Noches in Hueco Mundo in the anime BLEACH.
Hueco Mundo is a major location in BLEACH that was first shown in episode 1 of the anime, titled "The Day I Became a Shinigami", before making its formal debut in chapter 244 of the manga, titled "Born From The Fear". It is one of the Three Worlds that make up all known existence in the franchise, along with the Human World and Soul Society, and contains a seemingly endless white desert shrouded in unchanging night. It is home to the corrupt spiritual beings known as Hollows and their humanoid counterparts, Arrancars, which can travel to and from Hueco Mundo through Garganta, a black void connecting the Three Worlds. The world also contains Las Noches, a large fortress which serves as the base of operations for the antagonist Sousuke Aizen and his army of Arrancars. In BLEACH, the protagonist Ichigo Kurosaki and his allies invade the world and break into Las Noches in order to rescue Orihime Inoue from Aizen and his army.
The stage in SSF2 is primarily based on Hueco Mundo's appearance in the anime, featuring very similar shading and elements such as the tree-like structures and green-colored buildings, with the overall color palette and formation of the sand dunes being based on their appearance in BLEACH: Brave Souls. The main platform features the entrance to Underground Passage 22, which Ichigo uses alongside Uryū Ishida and Yasutora Sado to enter Hueco Mundo, and the pit to the right is based on the crater they leave as a result. The soft platform features a skull-like mask resembling that of a Hollow, with its design being an amalgamation of multiple generic Hollow designs. Las Noches appears in the background, and the parallax effect of the dunes references the fortress's consistent perspective in the anime, as it seems to appear equally distant for miles. The background also features a large crater, referencing that which the giant Hollow Runuganga emerges from to trap Ichigo and his party, and a portion of the throne of Baraggan Louisenbairn, the former God-King of Hueco Mundo prior to joining Aizen's army.

Trivia[]
- Prior to v0.9a of the demo, this stage's layout was completely different, instead taking place directly in front of Las Noches with its buildings and the Underground Passage 22 entrance serving as soft platforms.
- Prior to Beta 1.4 and following its rework in v0.9a, the stage had a steeper, more consistent slope than its current layout and, similarly to the original layout, took place much closer to Las Noches.
- This previous layout is referenced in the background of the stage, which features a large, jagged pit based on that which appeared to the right of the main platform.
- Several background characters from BLEACH formerly appeared on this layout before being removed. These included Sōsuke Aizen, who stood with three swords prior to v0.9b, and Ulquiorra Cifer and Tier Harribel, who could be seen on the right side, who stood guard at Las Noches prior to Beta.
