|Effect||Rayman spins his hair like propeller blades to slow his descent.|
When performed, Rayman does a short hop and rapidly spins the fronds of his hair like propeller blades, greatly slowing his vertical descent. Opponents that make contact with his hair as it spins are dealt moderate damage and knockback, which is much stronger if hit during the hop at the beginning. Due to the reduced falling speed, the move is very useful for recovering horizontally, but it provides very little vertical ascension.
The Helicopter is also used in Rayman's up throw, in which he throws the opponent on his hair and multi-hits them, and his down throw, in which he flies a short distance upwards with the opponent using it.
The Helicopter is Rayman's signature ability throughout the Rayman series, starting with its debut title. It allows Rayman to hover and slow his descent in the air by spinning his hair like propeller blades, and it can also lift him up when used over a current of air. Like in SSF2, it normally cannot lift Rayman into the air by itself, but several games in the series provide temporary powers to fly with it, including the super helicopter in Rayman and Rayman 2: The Great Escape and the Throttle Copter in Rayman 3: Hoodlum Havoc.
