Fox using Fire Fox in SSF2.
|Effect||Fox surrounds himself in orange flames and flies straight outward.|
In Super Smash Flash
In the original Super Smash Flash, Fire Fox is Fox's down aerial. When performed, Fox flies straight downward at a great speed while engulfed in flames. The direction it travels in is always the same and cannot be angled, unlike in the official Super Smash Bros. titles. Opponents hit by Fox as he plummets are dealt 5% damage per frame. In addition to using the move offensively, it is a momentum canceling move that can also be used to Fox greater control of his movement, as it can be interrupted at any point by a midair jump.
In Super Smash Flash 2
In the reboot, Super Smash Flash 2, Fire Fox has turned into Fox's up special move, where it functions much more akin to its official Super Smash Bros. counterparts. Fox now pauses in the air to charge the move before launching, glowing orange as he does, and he is now able to launch in any of eight directions of the player's choice. Opponents hit by Fox as he launches are dealt 14% flame damage and decent upward knockback. Fox can also attack opponents with the flames that gather around him up to four times just before launching, dealing 1% flame damage with each hit for a total of 4% damage, as well as very weak knockback. The great distance this move covers makes it very useful for recovering, though it will leave Fox helpless after using it. Fox will also slide for a moment if angled left or right on the ground, and if he launches downward into a platform, he will bounce off of it and fall into a helpless state.
