Tourian (ツーリアン), called as such within the game's files, is a solo stage in Super Smash Flash 2 that exclusively appears in event #40: The Mother Brain. As it is only possible to access this stage from the event match, it is not available for Group matches.
Layout[]
Taking on its appearance from Metroid: Zero Mission, Tourian consists of four very small platforms, with two near the center and one against a wall to the right, which prevents all KOs on the right blast line. The fourth platform is on the left and occupied by Mother Brain, and until she is destroyed, the left blast line is also inaccessible. There is also another wall that hangs from the top of the stage. Not only is the stage one of the smallest in the game, but the small platforms provide almost no space to fight on, which is likely the reason the stage is not available for Group.
Music[]
- The main music track is Vs. Ridley, a rock remix that plays during a battle against Ridley in Super Metroid. It also plays as the alternate music track on the Phase 8 stage.
Origin[]
Tourian is a recurring location in the Metroid series, appearing as the final area in both the original Metroid and Super Metroid. In Super Metroid, the ruins of the old Tourian were integrated into Crateria. Tourian also appeared in the remake of the original game Metroid: Zero Mission, being the final area of the original story, and it can still be explored after its destruction once Samus obtains the Fully Powered Suit. Tourian is referenced in other Metroid games that it otherwise does not appear in, such as the intro of Metroid: Other M and the Sector Zero of the BOTTLE SHIP (which is not explored in-game) being similar to Tourian, and the Tourian-like area of Sector 1 (SRX) in the Biologic Space Laboratories (BSL) research station leading up to Neo-Ridley in Metroid Fusion.
Most notably, Tourian is where the final battle against the main antagonist Mother Brain takes place, with the stage recreating the Zero Mission battle. Much like in the original game, Mother Brain appears on the left side of the stage and is connected to a base that spans to the top and bottom of it. Additionally, small cannons are affixed to the walls and ceilings, but unlike in Metroid, the ones in SSF2 are purely cosmetic and do not shoot anything. The original final battle site also featured lava at the bottom, whereas in SSF2 there is only a blast line.
