Perfect shield

A perfect shield, also referred to as a power shield, is a technique in Super Smash Flash 2 in which an attack collides with a player's shield on its first active frame. This prevents the shielding character from taking shield damage or being pushed backwards, and the shielding player is then able to immediately drop their shield without being affected by hitlag. If the attack is a projectile, a perfect shield can also reflect it.

A successful perfect shield creates a pinging sound and causes the screen to briefly flash. The effects of the technique allow the player using it to more easily punish their opponent or escape shield pressure while their opponent is still suffering from hitlag or ending lag. However, it is still vulnerable to many of the same limitations as shields, including grabs, unblockable attacks, and shield poking.

Though shields in Fraymakers do not allow for perfect shielding, a similar mechanic called parrying is featured with many of the same effects when successful.
