Super Dragon (スーパードラゴン) is Yoshi's Final Smash in Super Smash Flash 2.

Overview

When performed, Yoshi grows a pair of wings, allowing him to fly freely. While in this form, he can shoot massive fireballs from his mouth by attacking, which travel in a straight line and explode upon hitting an opponent, dealing 18% damage and high knockback. He is also intangible to attacks for the duration of the Final Smash. The Final Smash lasts exactly 20 seconds, after which Yoshi loses his wings and, if in midair when it ends, is sent slightly upwards.

Origin

Super Dragon is based on the abilities in Super Mario World that Yoshi can obtain by holding certain Koopa Troopa shells in his mouth. Holding a Blue Shell gives Yoshi wings and allows him to fly, holding a Red Shell allows him to spit it out as fireballs, and holding a Yellow Shell makes him create mini-earthquakes each time he lands. However, only one of these abilities could be used at a time and would be lost after spiting out the shell.

In the same game, however, eating the Flashing Shell would grant Yoshi all three moves and would make him transform into a similar version of Super Dragon Yoshi, but could still only spit one set of fireballs. This is likely what the move is most closely based on, though the Yellow Shell's mini-earthquakes are absent.

The name of the move comes from Super Mario World as well. In the Japanese version the message block at Yoshi's House is signed "Super Dragon Yoshi"; this is changed to simply "Yoshi" in localized versions. In the GBA remake, once the game has been completed the message block changes to one signed by "Super Dragon Yoshi" in all versions.
