When performed, Lucario briefly enters a defensive state in which he is surrounded by a white mist and intangible. This is followed by a quick punch forward, dealing weak electric damage and knockback to opponents hit and paralyzing them for a short time. When the move begins, Lucario can move a short distance forward or backward while intangible, and if it moves backward then it can move forward during the punch.
Similarly to Lucario's other aura-based moves, Feint becomes more powerful and paralyzes opponents for longer based on how much damage Lucario has accumulated. When Lucario has 0% damage, the move deals 6% damage and paralyzes for about one second. However, when Lucario has 190% damage, the move deals 12% damage and paralyzes for about one and one half of a second.
Feint is a damage-dealing Normal-type move that was introduced in Generation IV. In its debut, the move only dealt damage to targets using the moves Protect or Detect during that turn, though in future generations, it deals damage regardless if the target used Protect/Detect or not. Lucario, and its pre-evolved form, Riolu, can learn this move by leveling up in all games, usually at level 11 or 15.
- This move is based on Glancing Counter, Lucario's second custom down special move from Super Smash Bros. for Nintendo 3DS and Wii U, in which Lucario dodges attacks momentarily and follows up with a punch.
- The paralyzing effect of the move is also similar to Lucario's third custom down special move, Stunning Double Team.
- According to developers, this was picked over Double Team, Lucario's main down special move in the Super Smash Bros. games, due to it being more interesting and working better within Lucario's moveset.
