When performed, Lucario pauses for a moment and then quickly rushes forward in the direction held, or upward if no direction is held. Pressing another direction while traveling will turn Lucario in that direction. Opponents hit by Lucario as the move ends are dealt damage and knockback in the direction being traveled in, making it a meteor smash if Lucario is traveling downward.
Similarly to Lucario's other aura-based moves, Extreme Speed becomes more powerful based on how much damage Lucario has, and it also travels further. When Lucario has 0% damage, the move deals 5% damage with weak knockback and travels relatively far. However, when Lucario has 190% damage, the move deals 11% damage with stronger knockback and travels incredibly far.
The distance this move travels makes it useful for recovering. However, the move is also difficult to control when turning, especially at higher damages. This, along with the facts that it leaves Lucario helpless and has high landing lag after the move ends, makes it very risky to use.
Extreme Speed (formatted as "ExtremeSpeed" prior to Generation VI) is a damage-dealing Normal-type move introduced in Generation II, being the signature move of Arcanine prior to Generation III. Due to its increased priority, it allows the user to move before its target if they use a move that does not have increased priority. Lucario learns this move by leveling up to level 51 in Generation IV, and 65 in Generation V and onward.
