Playing as Mario, the player must defeat Donkey Kong, Bowser, and Wario on Mushroom Kingdom III within a time limit of 2:00. Each opponent is fought individually: first the player fights only Donkey Kong, followed by Bowser, and then finally Wario. The music also changes depending on which opponent is fought: Bramble Blast plays for Donkey Kong, Bowser's Rampage plays for Bowser, and Wario Ware Inc plays for Wario. The player has 1 stock, and each opponent must be KO'd once to be defeated. The launch rate for opponents is set to 1.2 so they take more knockback from attacks, and they also deal 20% less knockback than normal.
The ranking the player receives is based on how much time the event takes to be completed. The specific conditions for this are listed below.

- Although the opponents have no stock counter, they each effectively have 1 stock. This is because they are programmed in a similar way to the Fighting Silhouette Team in Multi-Man Smash, which has a total number of opponents that spawn and will spawn a new opponent after one has been defeated.
- The order the opponents are fought is the order of debut game (Donkey Kong: Donkey Kong (1981), Bowser: Super Mario Bros. (1985), and Wario: Super Mario Land 2: 6 Golden Coins (1992)).
- Prior to Beta 1.2, Title (WarioWare: Smooth Moves) used to play when the player fights Wario.
- Since then, Wario was fought with no background music. This was not fixed until Beta 1.3.1.
