Diogenes is the main protagonist of the platforming game Getting Over It with Bennett Foddy. He appears as an Assist character in Fraymakers.

Character description[]

Diogenes is a silent, muscular man with the lower half of his body housed inside a black metal cauldron. He is named after the ancient Greek philosopher Diogenes, who would often sleep in a pot in the marketplace of Athens as a protest against Greek society. He wields an oversized Yosemite hammer that he uses to scale anything in his path by climbing or hurling himself, with the cauldron being used to protect his fall. The mountain he scales in Getting Over It with Bennett Foddy consists of rocks, buildings, and other miscellaneous obstacles grouped together, with many areas making it easy for him to fall down and lose significant progress. His journey up the mountain is a philosophical one in which his perseverance and will to reach the top of the mountain overcome the frustration he experiences doing so.

Diogenes Lunge

Diogenes as he appears in Fraymakers.

Diogenes is one of the Assist characters in Fraymakers, and he is one of the twenty Assists available at the launch of its Early Access release. When called upon, he swings his Yosemite hammer in front of him and uses it to hop a short distance forward with his pot in front, and he repeats this each time he lands to travel across the stage. Opponents hit with the Yosemite hammer as he swings it down are dealt 3 damage with weak knockback, whereas opponents hit with the pot are dealt 9 damage with strong forward knockback. His slow movement can be used to create strong stage control and set up for powerful combo finishers. When hopping off-stage, he can also be used for edgeguarding.

It takes 125 damage to fully charge Diogenes.

In-game description[]

Moves forward with alternating hammer swings and big leaps. The hammer has a weak hit and the pot has a strong one during hops, so plan his movements accordingly!
