Bowser using Bowser Bomb.
|Effect||Bowser quickly slams down to the ground from the air, damaging opponents in his descent.|
When performed, Bowser gets into a sitting position and falls downward at a very high velocity. When used on the ground, he will first quickly leap forward into the air before falling down, with the leap being the initial hit leading into the plummet attack, while in the air, Bowser falls straight down. While falling, he can be slowly veered to the left or right using the respective directional inputs. Opponents hit by Bowser as he falls are dealt 15% damage with strong knockback. Bowser can also attack grounded opponents nearby as he lands, dealing 10% damage with weaker knockback. Additionally, opponents can be dealt 4% damage with weak knockback when hit by Bowser as he leaps into the air when using Bowser Bomb on the ground.
Bowser Bomb is an effective stall-then-fall move. It has very little startup lag and relatively little ending lag, making it both an effective combo tool and an effective KO move with little risk. Bowser is also able to grab ledges while using the move, but despite this, it is very risky to use off-stage, as Bowser will continue to plummet downward until he hits either a platform or a blast line.
The move is based on Bowser's attack pattern in Super Mario Bros. 3 during his final boss battle. During this fight, he will breath fire several times before jumping diagonally forward and slamming into the ground beneath him while facing the screen to attack Mario or Luigi, breaking bricks below him. In order to defeat him without using powerups, the player has to make Bowser break all bricks on a vertical area with the move, causing him to fall downwards into a pit.
